Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Ringo Song Report the same thing as a license?
No! A Ringo Song Report is purely informative but provides you with all the information you need to obtain a license.
Can you help us with a license?
Absolutely! We created Ringo with the goal that anybody, regardless of geographical location, social network, or experience, can license music. We understand, however, that the process can still feel daunting and a bit overwhelming. As such, we have a licensing service that you can access in the song report.
How do you get your data?
It’s a combination of things. We source our data from several websites around the world by making calls to their APIs. Additionally, we have direct links with rights holders, our own database, and the ability to crowdsource elements.
Why do you need a film/directors treatment/storyboard?
To create ballpark estimates, our systems double-check with rights-holders. Rights-holders will only share information when there is a ‘real’ request.
Are you looking for investors?
We are currently gearing up for a seed round of investments. If you’re interested in gathering information on that. Please connect with marcel@ringo.is
Why do you need to know from what country a license is signed from?
The world of musical copyrights is divided into regions, often into countries. Meaning, a song is represented by party A and in country Z, while party B represents that same song in country Y.
